It all started in 1935.

Poole Waite & Co Ltd shopfront in Clerkenwell Road, London, as seen from the street. The shopfront is painted black with company name in silver capital letters at the top. The brown wooden door is at the centre, with 2 arch windows on either side.

Poole Waite & Co Ltd was founded in 1935 when a partnership between Mr Poole and Mr Frederick Wille Waite was formed. Originally trading from suitcases containing ironmongery and hardware samples, they started supplying building and construction companies, local authorities and were awarded Ministry of Defence contracts.

The business expanded rapidly prompting the need for premises to include storage, a trade counter and an office. So in the late 30's they secured premises at 129 Grays Inn Road WC1.

Their continued success meant they outgrew these premises and in 1965 the company moved a short distance to its current location in Clerkenwell Road EC1 where you will still find our prestigious showroom and trade counter.

As a company operating in an ever-evolving industry, we have many exciting plans and changes for the future... watch this space!
