88 years of INDUSTRY LEADING EXPERIENCE It all started in 1935. Poole Waite & Co Ltd was founded in 1935 when a partnership between Mr Poole and Mr Frederick Wille Waite was formed. Originally trading from suitcases containing ironmongery and hardware samples, they started supplying building and construction companies, local authorities and were awarded Ministry of Defence contracts. The business expanded rapidly prompting the need for premises to include storage, a trade counter and an office. So in the late 30's they secured premises at 129 Grays Inn Road WC1. ​ Their continued success meant they outgrew these premises and in 1965 the company moved a short distance to its current location in Clerkenwell Road EC1 where you will still find our prestigious showroom and trade counter. ​ As a company operating in an ever-evolving industry, we have many exciting plans and changes for the future... watch this space! 88 Years of trading in the industry 228 Years of combined experience within our team 17 Members of staff “Wow, that is good service. Old Gramophone Works Location: Grand Union Canal, London, UK Type: Commercial Office Units Date: 2021 Graham Construction & Poole Waite lead the way with antimicrobial ironmongery at this former vinyl factory alongside the Grand Union Canal. Fire Door Experts Ltd working with Graham Construction and architects Studio RHE , supplied and fit Antimicrobial Ironmongery from Poole Waite. Standard ironmongery was included in the original specification, but Graham (the main contractor) saw this high profile refurb project as an ideal opportunity to add the extra protection of Antimicrobial Ironmongery for the building's future users. The ironmongery was part of a timber door package for 135 fire door-sets, comprising a mix of non-fire rated, FD30 and FD60 factory finished timber fire doors and frames from specialist door manufacturer, Humphrey & Stretton plc.

Waltham Forest Town Hall Location: Walthamstow, London, UK Type: Heritage Listed building / Public and civic Date: 2022 Poole Waite restored the original ironmongery for this Grade II listed town hall, including door pull handles and finger plates. Works were completed on behalf of Washroom Washroom , working with the main contractors ISG . The refurbishment of the building was overseen by architects Hawkins\Brown .

A Second Home Location: Orpington, UK Type: Retail Date: 2021 Poole Waite are keen to support small businesses with antimicrobial ironmongery services. We powder coated both the bathroom hardware and front entrance hardware of A Second Home with Matt Black Antimicrobial technology. Antimicrobial Ironmongery is proven to inhibit the growth of most types of harmful bacteria, including E. coli and MRSA, as well as the SARS-CoV-2 virus, on the treated surfaces of these touch points. The inbuilt surface protection works 24/7 and is effective for the lifetime of the product. Hillside House Location: North Hertfordshire, UK Type: Residential Date: 2007 New build home by architects Jeremy King Architects for a retired couple on a plot of land situated in a central village location in North Hertfordshire. The accommodation included four bedrooms, two bathrooms, a generous living space, a separate drawing room, office and double garage. The project was featured in Grand Designs Magazine. Sustainability At Poole Waite & Co Ltd we are actively looking at ways to improve our carbon footprint. ​ We appreciate that there are a lot of areas within our industry that have a negative effect on the environment. It may take time, but we are committed to try and reduce this over the coming months and years by looking at various alternatives open to us. Eco delivery services We have chosen a courier company with one of the best eco green records. This is DPD, who are supporting and promoting a more sustainable approach to career companies by using electric vehicles, investing in renewable energy, and ensuring efficient delivery routes to minimise fuel consumption. Bicycle courier services We have for the past couple of years made greater use of bicycles which are now used for over 90% of our same day delivery of goods in the central London area (when the weight / size of goods allows). ​ Whilst reducing our carbon footprint it also reduces the volume of fumes and emissions which will affect the local communities in and around London. Packaging We reuse all packaging materials on goods arriving in from suppliers. This has enabled us to cut the new packaging material ordered in by more than 60% over the past 18 months. ​ We are also trialling various environmentally friendly packaging materials to use in the future. Waste All waste produced is collected by Islington Council and separated to meet their recycling procedures. Eco Friendly Sustainable ironmongery range Our most recent project, which we are very excited about, has been the introduction of our Eco Friendly Sustainable Ironmongery range. ​ Many of our customers and their clients are not aware of the life cycle of the ironmongery when an office is stripped out and then re-fitted with new products. Our aim is to reduce this cycle which currently ships the majority of ironmongery products overseas for scrap, even if they are in very good condition and full working order. ​ We are actively promoting the benefits of using this range to both customers and their clients as it will enable them to make a significant reduction to their own carbon footprint and their efforts to achieve net zero.
